about

A single take solo performance of Deadbeat Runs Through My Veins

lyrics

DEADBEAT RUNS IN MY VEINS
Push me down
Again and again
Leave me with cuts and bruises
I get them all the time
She'll never know the difference
She'll never know the truth
That you were always a victim
Disguised as a klutz
And this deadbeat
Runs through your veins
You're barely alive

It's not called parenting when you teach them with a fist
Seriously why the fuck would you hit a kid
Just because you're a father doesn't mean you're a dad
A family is built by actions not by blood

A couple drinks later and a faulty condom
A life is ruined but it's not what you think
Just let him walk out, he'll call sometimes
when he does he'll say "I love you"
but not enough to stay
He'll make a new life,
leave you behind,
After all he never asked for you anyway
Oh now doesn't that sting!

The problem with the old generation is they rushed into everything they did
They expect us to do the same and scold us when we take our time
But we'll learn from their examples
How to royally fuck up our lives
And of course we'll make sure to turn out nothing like them
We'll change the world when they're all dead
We'll keep our morals at our hearts
We'll certainly never hit a child

Okay let me go a little slower so it can get through your thick skull/
Raising a kid is frustrating, if you can't handle it don't do it

But if you're gonna walk out then stay out, you don't get to choose how much of a parent you get to be,/ it's an all or nothing kind of thing

A car when they're 16 doesn't fix years of neglect and while I'm sure they're not complaining /deep down they wish it didn't turn out like this

Nobody asks to be born but it's your responsibility to make sure that she's grateful she was /and all I've seen is you make her wish she was dead

So yeah, you might be her father
But you sure as /shit aren't her dad
